Humans of New York

I have recently rediscovered HONY and spent an unhealthy amount of my time today looking back at all the different people Brandon Stanton has photographed (I say unhealthy as I have a pile of homework which I am avoiding).

What I love about this website is the way in which Stanton captures a small piece of these stranger's lives which is incredibly interesting. New York is an amalgamation of such a diverse range of people all with their own stories.

Here are some of my favourite images and stories...

MFW

Jeeze, time is just flying by. Milan Fashion Week came to an end a couple of days ago, and now all that remains is the home stretch of Paris. But before we get to that, here is what I coveted from Milan...

Bottega Veneta...where lady-like elegance prevailed...

Dolce & Gabbana...classic Italian style...

Emilio Pucci...sexy and sheer...

Francesco Scognamiglio...everything seemed to simply float down the runway...

Fendi...that last dress is beautiful...

Jil Sander was of course going to be simply stunning. What else could have been expected from Sander's return...

Prada was very pretty...

Lykke Li

I cannot get enough of these 2 songs, I am literally playing them on repeat. She's from Sweden, like all the best things are...

LFW

I know, I know it was over aagggeeess ago but work has set in. Nevertheless, here it goes...

First up we have Acne...oh so cool, I love that muscle tee...

Burberry Prorsum always impresses. I love the jewel colours and oversized coats...

Christopher Kane...let's first just say that the runway is too cool. And the clothes, amazing as always...

Erdem makes the most beautiful clothes with the most beautiful patterns in the most beautiful colours, and this season was no different...

Giles...possibly my favourite London show. I love love love the black dress (picture 2) and picture 3 makes me want to cut off all my hair, dye it blond, and wear it in a side parting...

Mary Katrantzou is such a favourite of mine, which I find strange as I usually wear black. I am in awe of her prints, and the way she prints, using technology to create something bold and different every time...

Meadham Kirchhoff...wonderfully weird...

Peter Pilotto...again some fabulous prints...

Sass & Bide...the first dress looks like a pineapple, need a say more...

Vivienne Westwood Red Label...quintessentially British...

Beasts of the Southern Wild

I was not prepared to cry that much. The movie follows six-year-old Hushpuppy and her experiences living in an isolated bayou community. Cut off from the rest of civilisation familiar to you or me, Hushpuppy is taught how to survive by her father Wink. This little girl has had to grow up fast and has some pretty incredible views on the world, with the believe that everything in the natural world is connected and in balance.

The heart of this movie has to be Hushpuppy as we follow her through a disastrous storm and ill father. A must see if there ever was one...

What The Hell DVF?

Wondering what on earth Diane had on her face at her show?? She was wearing Google glasses, which filmed what Diane saw that day...

P.S. Who doesn't love a DVF collection?!

NYFW

So as New York Fashion week comes to and end, I pick out a few of my favourite shows and looks...

3.1 Phillip Lim...I'm seriously feeling the prints and baggy silhouettes...

Alexander Wang is the king of laid back, effortless cool. What I loved about this collection (besides the amazing finale) was the use of 'invisible' stitching, giving the effect that the clothes were simply floating. Also, Liberty Ross! How to show the world that you're awesome and undefeated? Walk in Alexander Wang's show of course!..

And let's not forget that finale (if only the model in the front wasn't moving)...

BCBG...floaty dress with leather harnesses? Yes please!..

Elizabeth & James...the Olsen twins get it right every time, that purple is gorgeous...

Jason Wu...possibly my favourite collection, I just can't get enough of those 3 final looks...

Marc Jacobs...NYFW would be incomplete without Marc, first with Marc Jacobs, then with the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Who doesn't love stripes and head wraps?..

Prabal Gurung...whimsical fabrics...

Proenza Schouler...Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez can do no wrong...

Rag & Bone...I WANT that green leather jacket...

Rebecca Minkoff...you know a collection is great when you literally want every single piece...

So that's just my edited version of what I loved about NYFW, though the list could seriously go on and on. Next stop, London.
